Obituary of Roger Lee Mabe

Funeral services for Roger Lee Mabe, age 82, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mark Bryant and Rev. Fred Lewis officiating. Military graveside Honors by the Hopkins County Military Coalition will follow at Greenview Cemetery with Stacy Cody, Chris Voorheese, Jack Landers, Ron Landers, Bob Landers and Jason Haire serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Herzog, William McDowell, George South, Jim Barksdale, Ed Basye, Medicine Chest Friends and the Radio & TV Bible Class of First Baptist Church. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 21, 2015 from 6:00 t 8:00 p.m. at West Oaks Funeral Home. Mr. Mabe passed away Friday, April 17, 2015 at his residence. Mr. Mabe was born on November 7, 1932 in Sulphur Springs the son of Willie Bill and Mabel (Morris) Mabe. He married Merida Cowser on December 11, 1953 in Sulphur Springs. She survives. Mr. Mabe retired from Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, MI and was an arbitrator between labor and management. He received awards from Detroit Police for volunteer work with church men. He became an ordained deacon in Livonia, MI and was a member of First Baptist Church of Sulphur Springs, TX. Mr. Mabe served in the United States Army and was a member of the Hopkins County Military Coalition. In addition to his wife he is survived by daughters, Melinda Herron and husband Randy of Westland, MI, and Susan Mabe of Sulphur Springs, grandchildren, Randy Herron, Jr., and wife Alissa and Ian Herron and wife Maria all of Michigan and great grandson, Dylan Herron. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Jake Mabe, Millard Dee Mabe, sisters, Doris Mullen, and infants Inas Mabe and Frieda Jo Mabe. Memorial may be made to the Greenview Cemetery, P. O.
