We were so sorry to hear of Mr. Jim's passing. I knew him from Miller Grove school (I was in class of '49) and really thought a lot of him. My daughter put together a class reunion and we had the pleasure of seeing him there. What a blessing to see this wonderful man one last time before he went home to be with the Lord. My daughter and I have been praying that your family would have peace and comfort. Much Love, Milus Robinson

I was honored to have Mr. Burns as a teacher at Memorial Middle School. He was an amazing and caring teacher. We had a special connection when he found out my family was from Daugherty. He always took time to talk about Rains County happenings. He even took the time to come to the visitation when my Dad passed away. He was a special man. My thoughts and prayers are with Mrs. Mary and family.

I was saddened to read of Mr. Burns passing.. He was my history teacher my freshman year at Memorial Junior High in Garland Texas.. He was a great teacher. Made learning history interesting.. Many fond memories of him.. I ran into him in a business here in Sulphur Springs a few years ago, and spoke to him, told him he was my history teacher the only question he wanted answered was did I learn anything in his class, he was happy to hear I most assuredly did.. He was one of the teachers from my childhood that stands out in my mind.
He was one of the greatest teachers..
Rip Mr Burns...
