Obituary of Lucy Lea Thornton

Funeral service for Lucy Lea Thornton, 88, of Sulphur Springs, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 16, 2015 at Trinity Harvest Church of God in Sulphur Springs with Rev. Doug Holt and Rev. Conner officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Pittsburg with Michael Ramsey, Brad Redwine, Lee Jolicoeur, Roger Thornton, Bill Mangum, Dwayne Fox, David Ramsey, and Glen Thornton serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 15, 2015 at West Oaks Funeral Home. Mrs. Thornton passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at her residence. She was born on April 27, 1926 in Mississippi, the daughter of Leonard and Mabel Murray. She married Rev. Bernard L. Thornton in 1943 in Mississippi. He preceded her in death. She is survived by sons, Raymond Thornton and wife Sue of Edmond, OK, Wayne Thornton and wife Kay of Sulphur Springs, Sam Thornton and wife Norma of Ft. Worth, sister, Mary Hutchinson of Clinton, MS, grandchildren, Dr. Susan Redwine and husband Brad of Edmond, OK, Tawnette Ramsey and husband Michael of Sulphur Springs, Roger Thornton Jr. and wife Melissa of Waxahachie, Jennifer Browning, Shana Jolicoeur and husband Lee of Okeechobee, FL, Courtney Thornton of Weatherford, TX, step-grandson, Casey Johnson of Sanger, TX, several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by son, Bernard Leonard Thornton and grandson, Stephen Thornton. A special thank you to her caregivers, Donna Goins, Sarah Roberts, and Suzie Cadena.
