Obituary of Henry Joe Relford

Henry Joe “Big Dipper” Relford was born the second oldest on February 02, 1952 to the late Joe Verl Relford and Doris Ruth Easter Relford in Darby Springs outside of Dekalb, Texas. He attended school at Clark Elementary in Ladonia, Texas and Norris Elementary and Commerce High School in Commerce, Texas graduating in 1970. He was in the military and served in the Korean conflict. Mr. Relford attended East Texas State University before being drafted in the U. S. Army where he attained an Armed Forces Expeditionary and National Defense Service medals. He was employed at Sherwood Medical and Eddie Moore TV and Repair in Commerce, Texas for many years. He married Janie Johnson in 1982, she survives. He later became a truck driver for Grocery Supply Company in Sulphur Springs where he received an award for his dedicated service to the Accident Review Board in 1991 and awarded Driver of the year in 1995. He served as a faithful Deacon of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church until the Lord called him home. Deacon Henry Relford was an avid Dallas Cowboy Fan! Henry was preceded in death by his parents and one brother; Jeffery “Bodine” Relford. Other survivors include daughters, TaNarcia Relford and Tiwana Sweet of Gainesville; Teresa Johnson of Missouri City, Texas,; Sons, Heath T. Johnson (Deb) of Houston, Texas and Jimmy T. Johnson of Sulphur Springs, Texas. Brothers: Bobby Relford, Billy Relford (Erica), Benny Relford, Anthony Relford (Ton), Richard Relford and God-brother, Richard Frank all of Commerce, Texas. One sister, Delois Williams (Maurice) of Commerce, Texas. Granddaughters-Ronesha Vital (Jason) Teressa Janae and Kayla of Houston: grandsons-Ricky Collins of Houston, Texas and Daryian Relford-Hubbard of Tyler, Texas. A host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
