Obituary of Jerry Simpson

Graveside services for Jerry Don Simpson, age 69, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Monday, February 27, 2012 at Oaklawn Cemetery in Cooper, TX, with Jason Simpson, Colton Cummings, Billy Cummings, Tony Moore, Billy Jackson, Ted Matlock, Oral Anders and Johnny Stephens serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Brown and Charles Ball. Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m., prior to service time at West Oaks Funeral Home. Mr. Simpson passed away Thursday, February 23, 2012 at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital. Mr. Simpson was born on June 23, 1942 in Hopkins County, the son of John D. and Opal Mae (Brown) Simpson. Mr. Simpson was a professional driver for over 42 years, driving for AMPI, Ballard Trucking, Therman and Cowboy Trucking. He was a member of the GypsieÂ’s Motorcycle Club and a member of the Light House Church. He is survived by daughters, Donna Kelso and husband Brian of Paris, Debbie Clements and husband Edgar of Sulphur Springs, sister, Shirley Simpson of Weatherford, TX, grandchildren, Ashley Clements of Sulphur Springs, Hope Knight and husband Brandon and Brian Kelso all of Austin,great-grandson, Mason Clements, aunt, Frances Wilks of Sulphur Springs. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Gerald Wayne Simpson, and grandson, Dustin Dow Clements. Arrangements are under the direction of West Oaks Funeral Home. www.westoaksfuneralhome.com
